The end of Quarter 1 is here and if you have any questions feel free to send Ms. Wallwork or Mrs. Swanson an email or leave a message on this blog. Don't forget conferences are on October 15th, if you have not received a time please contact the homeroom teacher.
Social: We will be starting our Ancient Greece and Rome unit by watching a DVD about Ancient Rome. This is a very long unit so your son or daughter should make sure to keep up on the reading and vocabulary.
Science: Our final exam for our Science Rocket Unit is on Monday and we will watch October Sky on Wednesday to celebrate the end of the first quarter. Students who do not have a signed permission slip will not watch the movie.
Language Arts: Because of the short week, we will not be having a spelling test. We will continue to work on our poetry project. We have learned how to write a Haiku, Cinquain, and Diamante. Reminder if you have any scrapbooking items you would like to donate please send them to school with your child.
Reading: Ms. Wallwork's reading class will be finishing up Hiroshima this week. We have done a lot of discusion about this book, hopefully your son or daughter has shared this with you. After returning to school on October 19th, we will begin A Wrinkle in Time.
Math: Ms. Wallwork's class will be doing arithmetic with units of measure, volume of a rectangular prism, and proportions. Mrs. Swanson's class will work on measuring angles using a protractor, area of a rectangle, elapsed time, and exapnded notation.
THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15th AND FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16th.
Don't forget your conference time on October 15th, if you are not sure please call your childs homeroom teacher.
Please keep your child at home if they are running a fever, have a cough, or sore throat. This will prevent the spread of the germs present in their systems. Call ahead for homework if needed.
